Arc.dev and Revelo offer distinctly different approaches to technical talent acquisition, and choosing incorrectly will cost you thousands. This breakdown gives you the inside scoop on both platforms across five critical areas: hourly rates, vetting process, geographical reach, contract flexibility, and administrative overhead. By the time you finish reading, you'll know which platform suits your developer hiring needs.
Arc is a marketplace platform that uses AI to connect US companies with vetted remote software developers. The company is a subsidiary of Codementor, an online community of developers that focuses on mentoring and hiring remote developers. Arc’s uses HireAI, its AI engine for vetting developers and matching them with businesses.
Revelo is a talent platform that connects U.S. companies with pre-vetted, full-time, remote software engineers from Latin America. Unlike freelancing marketplaces, Revelo focuses on long-term staff augmentation. Revelo sources talent from countries like Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina to ensure time zone alignment with U.S. teams.
Here’s Arc.dev’s hiring process according to their FAQs page:
Revelo has a simple vetting process. A Revelo talent recruiter only conducts a 45-minute interview with each applicant. She assesses the applicant’s English language level, technical experience, and long-term career goals. The candidate is added to Revelo’s talent pool if the recruiter is satisfied.
While Arc states $15 to $110 per hour pricing on their website, their developers actually charge between $60-$100 hourly. This figure depends on the role, experience, and location. Arc charges extra fees for hiring their developers. For full-time hires, it is 20% of the engineer’s negotiated annual salary. For freelance hires, it is a weekly "retainer" based on the developer’s expected hourly earnings.
Revelo doesn’t display pricing on its website. While it has an online calculator to estimate the fees, you must provide your name and email address to get the result. There’s an additional fee of $2,500 on top of the monthly developer salaries. And, if you decide to hire the developer permanently, you’ll have to pay the service fees for the next 12 months upfront. Revelo issues you a monthly bill that includes the developer’s rates and Revelo’s fees. You pay directly to Revelo, and they handle payments to the engineers.
Here’s how Arc compares with Revelo:
Both platforms have advantages in terms of pre-vetting developers and handling administrative aspects. However Arc prioritizes long term projects and takes huge commissions on developer rates. Revelo is less transparent with pricing and its vetting process, which may not make it ideal for startups on a budget who want a guarantee of quality developers.
